When first began working with Jeanne nearly two years ago, my outlook to continue with a career as a modern dancer looked bleak. Having sustained a significant back injury and reconstructive knee surgery, I found that even basic daily functions were overwhelmingly painful. I was doubtful that any regimen, aside from surgery, would give me relief for my back. Jeanne assessed my abilities and limitations and immediately developed an approach to working with me that, in a short span, gave me dramatic results. Her ability to tailor each session to my body’s needs was remarkable. I believe Jeanne’s thorough instruction of the Pilates work saved me from back surgery.

After watching Oprah I decided to be in good health and great shape before turning 50. I started with Pilates mat sessions and graduated to the machines. I got strong and found some shapely new muscles. Then while preparing for a match play golf tournament I ruptured a disc in my back. After surgery and a few months, Jeanne eased me back into a rehab routine and now almost a year later I'm probably stronger than ever. I have had attended Pilates classes from several different gyms. These classes are over crowded and very frustrating. I love attending Jeanne’s Pilates of Rochester. Jeanne is an amazing instructor who takes into account each person’s limitations, finds the right Pilates exercise that will work on those restricted areas and makes each class fun, relaxing and challenging for your whole body and mind. I work 40 + hours a week, have a family and even though I may be exhausted on those Tuesday evenings, I look forward to attending my class with Jeanne as I know she will work me hard while making sure I use proper body alignment, work on strengthening my core, work on improving my range of motion and help release the tension from the week. Pilates has enriched me both physically and mentally. Jeanne is the best trainer and teacher I have ever worked with. She is exacting, watches every second, and every one of my movements. I feel my body differently having worked with her for nearly half a year. I use my body in swimming and walking differently and people remark on how “good I look” even though I’ve done little to change my appearance. Jeanne is fun to work with because she makes exercise a matter of the mind, concentration and imaging the body—and not merely a matter of grunting and straining. She is conscious of my various impairments, osteoarthritis, for instance, and takes great care in not aggravating such conditions. I recommend her to whoever is looking for a good way to exercise.

From the start, Jeanne has set herself apart from other personal trainers I have worked with. Jeanne really takes the time to assess her clients starting fitness level and then offers highly personalized instruction towards achieving their goals. Jeanne comes prepared to every session with a lesson plan that ensures both a very thorough and creative progression from week to week. I have worked out with Jeanne twice a week for 5 months now and she is still constantly introducing new exercises.

At the time I started working with Jeanne, I was a burnt out gym rat. Too many years of kickboxing, weights, interval training, cardio machines etc had left me on both a physical and psychological plateau. However, since introducing Pilates training with Jeanne, I have experienced a noticeable improvement in my body alignment, upper and lower body strength, flexibility and, most importantly, core musculature. Pilates works the body in a wholly different way than traditional strength training methods but the movements must be done with proper precision. Jeanne's has an exacting eye and she constantly offers subtle yet important adjustments so that your workout is optimally effective.

At the end of the day, Jeanne is a great trainer and an awfully nice person to boot. There are not a lot of people I look forward to seeing twice a week but Jeanne is definitely one of them!

I had never done Pilates, or really anything like it (yoga, etc.) before when Jeanne convinced me to come down and try one of her private Pilates sessions... I was nervous, but Jeanne was such a patient, dedicated and professional instructor - that I fell in love with it - and started to see and feel results within just a few sessions and now I try to make it a weekly engagement!!
