Jeanne Schickler Compisi
Jeanne is a certified Pilates instructor, modern dancer and choreographer, with over ten years of professional teaching
experience. By incorporating Pilates into her dance
training,
Jeanne recognized early on the many benefits of
Pilates for
not only for dancers and athletes, but for
people of all ages
and physiques. This discovery along with
inspiring sessions
taught by Master Teacher and Pilates
elder Kathy Grant led
to a career in Pilates.
In addition to teaching traditional Pilates methodology,
Jeanne
has training and experience in working with pregnant
women
and clients that suffer from arthritis, osteoporosis
and physical injuries. For example, clients with injuries
such as torn rotator
cuffs, herniated discs and torn menisci
learn how to strengthen
the appropriate muscles through Pilates and rehabilitative
exercises to relieve the pain and in many cases, forgo
surgery.
She believes in customizing each session according to
clients'
needs, posture and alignment and makes sure that the client
learns something new with each session.
Jeanne holds a BA in Dance from William Smith College, an
MFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts
and received her
Pilates mat and apparatus certifications from the Kane
School of Core Integration. Jeanne has
taught private
and group classes in New York City for the past five years
at
Pilates Reforming New York, Equinox, The Sports Club LA and
Bally Total Fitness. In addition to running Pilates
of Rochester, Inc.,
Jeanne currently teaches Pilates mat classes at the Country Club of
Rochester and teaches both modern dance and Pilates for the
Nazareth Academy Dance Company. Jeanne is a proud
member of
the Pilates Method Alliance (www.pilatesmethodalliance.org),
an
organization dedicated to protecting the public by
establishing
certification and continuing education standards for Pilates
professionals. |
